Jerry Jones has a lot of work to do this offseason. For starters, Dak Prescott, Byron Jones and Cooper are unrestricted free agents, among many others.

Prescott is obviously top priority. However, keeping Cooper is important too. Why? Because whoever is playing quarterback for the Cowboys in 2020 is expected to win the Super Bowl. Cooper makes that expectation much more realistic.

The case for Cooper to stay with Dallas is an easy one. Cooper appears comfortable in Dallas. He took the team’s offense from one-dimensional and opened things up all over the field. There is no coincidence that Prescott has played some of his best football since Cooper arrived.

Cooper also had arguably the best season of his career under Jason Garrett and Kellen Moore last season. He had a career-high 1,189 yards and eight scores. His 79 receptions were his second-highest total.

Jones is desperate for another Super Bowl. The Cowboys are also primed to compete, as the team is one of the most well-rounded units in the NFL. Add those together, and Mike McCarthy has to coach a Super Bowl or bust team in 2020.

Without Prescott and Cooper, that expectation is a pipe dream.
