2020 NFL Draft: Cleveland Browns 7-round mock
By John Buhler
Second Round
Getting a player out on the edge to help with the pass rush is a big-time need for the Browns. Yes, they have Myles Garrett already on their roster, but he was suspended for six games last year. Plus, you can never have enough good pass rushers on your team. The pick here for the Browns at No. 41 in the second round has to be Utah Utes defensive end Bradlee Anae.
Anae was two-time All-Pac-12, an All-American in 2019 and took home the Morris Trophy. After four years playing for Kyle Whittingham in Salt Lake City, Anae amassed 131 total tackles (83 solo, 48 assists), 40 for a loss of yardage and a ridiculous 29.5 sacks, including 13 as a senior in 2019. At 6-foot-3 and 265 pounds, Anae has the frame to thrive at the next level out on the edge.
While this looks to be a solid draft for pass rushers, it is in the Browns’ best interest to get a top-tier left tackle in the first round and then take a quality player in Anae in the second round. Cleveland may go with a player like A.J. Epenesa in the top-10 if the Browns want to fix their pass rush first. However, Anae has to be the guy for them here in the second round.
