1. Resolve Dak Prescott’s situation

It’s really not surprising it has come to this.

A year ago, the Cowboys had some looming decisions to make when it came to their star running back and reliable quarterback. But that became complicated when Elliott opted to hold out until a new deal was reached. He was in the throes of his rookie contract which still had two years remaining on the books. Nonetheless, the Cowboys opted to redo the talented performer’s deal.

Meanwhile, the more pressing issue was four-year signal-caller Dak Prescott., with his rookie deal would expire at the end of the 2019. And his future has been one of the bigger subjects of discussion for more than a year. The 2016 fourth-round pick put up big numbers this past season, connecting on 65.1 percent of his passes for 4,902 yards and nearly three times as many scores (30) as interceptions (11).

The two-time Pro Bowler has started every game for Jones’ club the past four seasons and helped guide the club to the playoffs twice. Prescott certainly has his detractors with the team lacking consistency. But that’s been the case with the team in general for more than 20 years and doesn’t fall all on him.

Will the organization re-sign Prescott or opt for the franchise tag to buy some time? Would they indeed allow the 26-year-old pro to test the market? The clocking is ticking in Arlington.
