3. Philadelphia Eagles

By the end of last season, the Eagle’s wide receiver group closely resembled a M.A.S.H. unit. DeSean Jackson, Alshon Jeffery and Nelson Agholor each missed at least five games, leaving Greg Ward Jr. and  J.J. Arcega-Whiteside as the top two wide receivers. Agholor is set to hit free agency and is unlikely to be back, while Jeffery and Jackson are in line to be back with solid money tied up in them.

While Jackson (even at his age) is a great deep threat and Jeffery is a big receiver and a significant red zone threat, Diggs is a versatile a receiver as there may be in the league. He was a high volume target in 2018 (149) as he averaged 10.0 yards per catch, then as a nod to what the Vikings were doing in the play-action passing game he averaged a career-best 17.9 yards per catch last year. The Eagles got a close look at that downfield in Week 6 last year, as Diggs had seven receptions for 167 yards and three touchdowns against them.

Philadelphia can easily take on Diggs’ $10.9 million salary and $14.5 million cap hit for this year. The bigger question is what it will take to get him, probably a high draft pick plus a player, and if general manager Howie Roseman will be willing to part with a first-round pick to get a deal done.

Any diva factor Diggs has seems tame compared to other wide receivers we’ve seen create issues and drama for their teams. But even considering that potential drama factor, the Eagles have to be monitoring Diggs closely and they should be in line to pounce quickly if there’s any indication the Vikings want to move him.
