Round 3 – Pick 96

Troy Dye, LB, Oregon

The Chiefs have some pretty big deficiencies at the linebacker position. Anthony Hitchens is the captain of said group, but realistically he was passable. Damien Wilson was a nice addition and helped stabilize the position when it came to coverage, but might be a cap casualty this offseason.

Troy Dye out of Oregon could be an interesting fit. He has a ton of athleticism and is good a diagnosing the play while flowing well to the ball. He only finished with 84 tackles last season after consecutive 100-tackle seasons, but did finish with 9.5 tackles for loss and two interceptions.

His size allows him to run with people in coverage, but that same size gets him in trouble in the run game. He will struggle with more physical players on the line of scrimmage, but he would be a serviceable weak side linebacker while being on the field in non-obvious run downs.
