Rumors have indicated that WWE is open to negotiating with other streaming companies for PPV events like Wrestlemania and here are three possible partnerships.

Since WWE’s latest conference call, there’s been much speculation on what the future holds for the business of pro-wrestling. According to reports, the company has lost revenue in regard to live event attendance and paid subscribers to the WWE Network.

With that said, the speculation includes whether or not future PPV events will be airing on the WWE Network. Many have asked could PPV events like Wrestlemania, for instance, be airing on a different streaming platform.

While nothing has been confirmed, for now, it’s a possibility that WWE could sell their rights to air PPV events to another platform. If that happens, here are three possible platforms that could air their PPV events.

ESPN+

Over recent years, ESPN and WWE have developed a friendly business relationship, from airing related documentaries to even covering it on their official website. Adding PPV events could be a great fit for ESPN+. Despite many arguing that professional wrestling isn’t a sport to covered on ESPN, it’s been said that if ESPN can get behind promoting the events, then interest from the sports world will increase in the process.

YouTube

With over 55 million subscribers on YouTube, there may be a possibility that WWE would air their PPV events on the largest video online platform in the world. The Logan Paul vs. KSI boxing matched air on Youtube PPV and earn a respectable buy-rate. Due to the number of people that view professional wrestling on the platform, some could argue that if YouTube got behind promoting such events, then viewers on that very platform would feel motivated in purchasing a PPV.

Disney+

Disney Plus has been a fast-growing streaming service since its debut in Nov. 2019. For a long time, there have been rumors about Disney one day buying WWE, considering what a large company they are. That could lead to their PPV events, heading onto Disney’s new streaming platform. It would make a lot of sense for Disney to have the type of finances to invest and stream such major PPV events as Wrestlemania.
