New Buccaneers are coming in April. The team previously announced they’ll have new uniforms, and now we know they’ll be here by the NFL Draft.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will unleash their new uniforms to the world in April 2020.

There is nothing like a team getting new threads to start a new era in franchise history. The Buccaneers desperately need to turn the page after a decade-plus of irrelevance. There is never a wrong time to right the ship, just like there never is a bad time to get a downtrodden fanbase fired up over some new uniforms.

Earlier this offseason, the Buccaneers said they would have new threads for 2020. On Monday morning, the franchise announced those new uniforms will be unveiled in April 2020. Fire the cannons, baby! April 2020 cannot get here fast enough.

In franchise history, the Buccaneers have largely had three different uniform styles. For the first two decades of their existence, they rocked the iconic creamsicle orange with the Bucco Bruce decal. It symbolizes the John McKay and Sam Wyche eras of occasionally great defense and perpetually inept offenses. The creamsicle is the color best associated with Tampa Bay football.

In the late 1990s, Tampa Bay embraced pewter, unlike any other franchise. Complemented with crimson, these threads remind of us the glory days of this franchise with the punishing defenses of the Tony Dungy and Jon Gruden eras. Pewter is the other color that immediately comes to mind when thinking about the Buccaneers.

In the mid-2010s, the Buccaneers downgraded to something less-than-stellar. They overshadowed the pewter and crimson with alarm clock digits and the biggest Jolly Roger decal known to humanity. It was gaudy and visually offensive, on par with Jameis Winston going 30/30 sans 20/20 vision. He got his eyes fixed this offseason. Hopefully, the uniforms are fixed, too.

With the 2020 NFL Draft commencing in Las Vegas on April 23, we can expect the Buccaneers’ new jerseys to be unveiled by then. So that gives us roughly a three-week window to prepare for their greatest uniform reveal of all time. Is there a way to shrink this 23-day window even further?

Well, if the Buccaneers were to drop these new threads on April 1, nobody will believe the reveal because it’s April Fool’s Day. We can also expect the jerseys to be unleashed at least a week or so before the upcoming NFL Draft to, I don’t know, help move merchandise. So look for the reveal to happen sometime between April 2-April 16. It’s going to be so incredibly amazing stuff, guys.
