Will Jarvis Landry be a top-20 fantasy receiver again in 2020?
By John Buhler
Jarvis Landry has been a model of consistency throughout his NFL career. Will he once again be a top-20 wide receiver in fantasy football in 2020?
Jarvis Landry is a five-time Pro Bowler in his six NFL seasons out of LSU. Regardless of if he’s catching passes for the Miami Dolphins or with the Cleveland Browns, Landry always finds ways to make plays for his team in the receiving game. A model of consistency, The Fantasy Footballers wonder if he will once again be a top-20 wide receiver in fantasy in 2020.
Mike Wright mentions how Landry finished the season as the WR13, even though he was in the same Browns offense as his former college teammate Odell Beckham Jr. Landry had been the No. 1 option during his first five years in the league, but Beckham’s arrival could have had major fantasy implications for the guy. Turns out, it was Beckham who had to adjust.

Landry has been phenomenal in PPR leagues because of his volume-style of receiving. It helps him be a more consistent fantasy receiver because he’s not a high touchdown guy to begin with. So this usually has him in the teens in fantasy football rankings. The productivity is there, but there are some offseason concerns regarding a core injury he elected to have surgery on.
Landry doesn’t miss games, but he opted to have the surgery after playing in the Pro Bowl. It’s about a six-to-eight month recovery time. If he’s back in time for training camp, that’ll be fantastic, but if he’s good to go only weeks before the season, then he might be poised for a down September, thus affecting his overall fantasy status heading into next season.
Ultimately, Wright and Jason Moore believe Landry will keep the trend going and be a top-20 fantasy football wide receiver. However, Andy Holloway thinks the trend ends this year and he won’t project as a solid WR2 he’s been for you in fantasy for years. It’ll be a new offense with Kevin Stefanski in Cleveland, so any missed time in camp could be to Landry’s detriment.
Overall, Landry is the type of possession receiver who commands the football in any offense he’s in. It’s not like he’s played in highly functional situations in the NFL up to this point with the Dolphins or Browns. As long as he recovers well from his offseason core surgery, Landry should be in great shape to be at least WR20 in 2020. So get excited about that, fantasy football players.
