Seattle Seahawks free agency 2020: Top 5 targets
By Nick Villano
4. Leonard Williams
Continuing the trend of pass-rush help, we look at another option, but this time in the middle. Leonard Williams has talent, but never put it together since being taken sixth-overall in the 2015 NFL Draft.
He hit rock bottom last year, going for a half-sack between the New York Jets and New York Giants. He’s getting worse by the year. There has to be a reason for his issues, and Pete Carroll is the right guy to give him his best shot in the NFL.
Williams would fill a need for the Seattle Seahawks, who could use someone on the inside. Jarran Reed is terrific but needs help with a partner. Williams has the ability to be such a player.
Williams must prove he can still bring it like he did at USC, and the downgrade in play has more to do with opportunity and bad fit. If he could show he’s in his prime, that potential is going to turn into production. If anyone can pull it out of him, it’s Carroll and the Seahawks.
