With the Denver Broncos trading for A.J. Bouye, it likely means we’ve seen the last of Chris Harris Jr. in the Mile High City.

Chris Harris will one day have his name in the Denver Broncos Ring of Honor.

Unfortunately for Denver fans, it’ll likely be after he plays elsewhere in 2020 and beyond.

With the news of Denver acquiring cornerback A.J. Bouye from the Jacksonville Jaguars for a fourth-round pick, it’s exceedingly probable Harris finds himself on the free-agent market being courted by other clubs.

While the Broncos have the cap space ($56.5 million after the Bouye trade is made official on March 18), it’s tough to envision general manager John Elway paying a premium for Bouye, Harris and safety Kareem Jackson.

Should Harris become a free agent as expected, he’ll have a robust market. Rumors abound on where the 30-year-old will end up. Regardless, he’s positioned to cash in after four Pro Bowls and one All-Pro campaign with the Broncos during his nine years in Denver. All told, he has notched 20 interceptions and four touchdowns.

Harris has long been one o the premiere players at his position, providing durability and versatility. The former Kansas Jayhawks star can play both on the outside and in the slot and has only missed five games throughout his NFL career. Now, it appears he’ll be finding a new home for the first time, perhaps on a contender looking for a veteran presence on the back end.

The NFL free-agent tampering period begins March 16 at 4 p.m. ET and continues for 48 hours before the market officially opens.
