2020 NBA Mock Draft, 1.0: LaMelo Ball gives the Warriors a boost
By Zach Hood
This is probably a dream scenario for the Wolves. They need another dynamic scoring weapon, and the options on the free-agent market in that category this summer are not plentiful. Edwards is raw, but the skillset is undeniable. At 6-foot-4, he profiles as a shooter in the long term and is a freakish athlete. Defensively, he might not be a stopper but should be competitive, again, in the long term, due to his physical ability. He just needs to bring consistent intensity.
Minnesota has the playoffs in mind with the pairing of D’Angelo Russell and Karl Anthony-Towns, so while Edwards doesn’t exactly project as a plug-and-play starter, but he’s the type of talent they cannot pass on considering their need for a punch on the wing to balance with what they have in place already. Edwards might not contribute right away, but wings with shooting potential and that are this level of athlete are rare. In what many are projecting as a weak class, the University of Georgia product has one if not the highest ceilings.
