2020 NBA Mock Draft, 1.0: LaMelo Ball gives the Warriors a boost

The Spurs have a weird roster. Tyrese Haliburton might also make some sense, but they have more of a future in the backcourt with Dejounte Murray and Lonnie Walker than they do in the frontcourt. LaMarcus Aldridge and DeMar DeRozan aren’t the long term answer in San Antonio, and Okongwu might make a nice anchor for those young guards on both ends. He’s shown the ability to protect the rim as well as power inside offensively.
Okongwu could help usher the Spurs back into the small ball era as they kind of faded into this weird mid-range abyss with DeRozan and Aldridge. At only 6-foot-8, he can play either 4 or 5, and with him making over 72 percent of his free throws there’s reason to believe Okongwu might at least make corner 3s one day.
