Safety. New England Patriots. Xavier McKinney. 23. player. 47.

The New England Patriots have a long week ahead of them, as they will find out next week whether or not Tom Brady will be their quarterback in 2020. Many have said that the ball is in Brady’s court in terms of returning to the team, but he is selling his house in Massachusetts, and could be headed out West.

If Brady does decide to leave, they have a lot of work to do at the quarterback position, and they may be in the market to move up and get one in April. However, I believe that he is going to stay in New England, and with the No. 23 overall selection, the Patriots find a replacement for pending free agent Devin McCourty.

Xavier McKinney from Alabama is the best overall safety in this draft class, and would be an instant starter on this defense if McCourty decides to leave via free agency. Bill Belichick is a defensive genius, and always puts a good product on the field on  that side of the ball, so adding a solid defensive talent at No. 23 makes sense.

Wide Receiver. New Orleans Saints. Justin Jefferson. 24. player. 15.

The New Orleans Saints, unlike the New England Patriots, know their future Hall of Fame quarterback will be back with the team in 2020. Drew Brees has already stated he will be ready to go for another season in the Bayou, and now the team should go out and get him some more weapons.

Michael Thomas is putting together a historic start to his NFL career, but the Saints need to start adding some talent around him. One player to keep an eye on in terms of the first round this April is Justin Jefferson, who put on a show at the NFL Scouting Combine after being an incredible playmaker for the undefeated LSU Tigers this past season.

Jefferson has the size and speed to be a perfect compliment to Thomas, giving Brees not only another solid deep threat, but a reliable option inside the red zone. New Orleans is going to be a player for the NFC title again next season, as the organization looks to give Brees his second Super Bowl title.
