2020 NFL Draft: 5 players Redskins could take in Round 1
2. Jeff Okudah
The Redskins finally pulled the plug on Josh Norman’s tumultuous time with the franchise this offseason. He wasn’t anything close to a good player for Washington last season, but he still played a lot of snaps for the team.
That leaves Rivera and his front office with a massive hole to fill at cornerback. Finding a quality player at that position in free agency is always difficult (as evidenced by the Norman deal). That’s why the draft is where Washington will focus their attention.
Okudah is the best corner in this year’s draft class by a wide margin. He’s got everything you look for in a guy who is going to take on the other team’s No. 1 wide receiver on a weekly basis. He grades out well in terms of size, speed, athleticism and technique. The former Ohio State star is one of the safest prospects available to Washington.
Right now, Okudah is most frequently being mocked one pick after the Redskins are slated to make their first selection. He’s a much better value at No. 3 than he would be at No. 2. That’s no disrespect to him as a player. He would be a good choice for Washington at a position of real need. He’s just not quite as dynamic as the final guy on this list.
