Houston Texans

1. Byron Jones
2. Shelby Harris
3. Emmanuel Ogbah

It is difficult to envisage the Texans, who will have just under $63m in cap space at their disposal, not attempting to spend some of that on Jones.

Jones is the ideal candidate to be the definitive answer at cornerback that has long since eluded the Texans, with their Divisional Round collapse against the Chiefs further highlighting the need for help on the back end.

D.J. Reader’s potential departure figures to make the interior of the defensive line a pressing concern. Harris is three years older but carries more pass-rush upside and is still in his prime years at age 28.

Three-time Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt’s continued injury misfortune should lead the Texans to seek depth on the edge, and Ogbah could come at a discounted price if rival suitors are dissuaded by the torn pectoral he suffered last season.

Ogbah is only 26 and had 5.5 sacks and 11 quarterback hits when his 2019 campaign was prematurely ended. The Texans shouldn’t look to break the bank to address all their needs, and Ogbah would be a prudent option who could net them a significant pay-off if he is able to stay healthy.
