Atlanta Hawks All-Star Trae Young is keeping his 3-Point Shootout skills fresh by shooting his dirty socks into the laundry basket, and it’s as close as NBA fans are getting to real basketball right now.

With the NBA season suspended for at least a month and possibly looking at a hiatus until June or July due to novel coronavirus, players and fans alike are going to be challenged with staving off boredom. For guys like Atlanta Hawks All-Star Trae Young, it’ll be a combination of finding ways to stay busy and keeping their basketball skills intact.

We’re not even one week removed from our last bit of NBA action, but life without sports has already gotten pretty dull. Luckily, Young and other NBA players are trying to make light of the situation, posting home videos joking about how they’re planning on staying in game shape while self-isolating.

On Young’s Twitter account Monday evening, the first-time All-Star and 3-Point Contest participant posted a video of himself shooting his dirty socks into the laundry basket, with the socks set up exactly like ball racks at the 3-point shootout:

Donning his NBA All-Star jersey, Young’s got four black socks at each regular rack, with one white sock at the end for the money ball. The rack in the final corner was the all-money ball rack, but there’s no rack at the top of the key, unfortunately, because it looks like he’s shooting in a wide hallway or entrance area.

Even without the rack at the top of the key, if we’re scoring this by standard 3-Point Contest rules, Young would’ve put up an absurd 27 out of a possible 28 points in the inaugural 3-Point Sock-out (his only miss was one black sock on the third rack).

In the actual 3-Point Contest, Young only scored 15 points and was eliminated from the first round. Sure, he got a little greedy with using that backboard, but as we can see from his literal airing of dirty laundry, hopefully these household chores will keep that sweet shooting stroke together until we can enjoy some real basketball again.
