Tom Brady is attracting free agents to Buccaneers, but who should they sign?
Kelvin Beachum, OT
One of the biggest needs for the Buccaneers entering the 2020 offseason is the offensive line, specifically the tackle position.
The presence of Tom Brady makes it more imperative that the team address this hole. Brady is not as mobile as Winston, and is also unlikely to withstand a constant barrage of hits like Winston did in 2019 (he took 47 (!!) sacks in 2019).
Enter Kelvin Beachum.
Beachum is the best free agent offensive tackle coming another strong season with the NY Jets in 2019. Beachum provides a veteran presence for an offensive line in desperate need of an identity, and a trusted protector for Brady in his golden years.
At 31, Beachum is almost certainly on the backside of his career, but has shown remarkable durability in starting 60 of 64 games over the last four seasons. His age (31) will not only discount his price some, it will also increase the likelihood that he’ll take a discount to chase a championship.
