How the hiatus affects all 30 NBA teams
Golden State Warriors: Taking away Steph Curry when we just got him back
There’s no way around it: It’s been a brutal year for the Golden State Warriors and their fans. No one will pity them after they enjoyed the most successful five-year stretch in modern NBA history, but after losing Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson to injury in the Finals, then KD and Andre Iguodala over the summer, and then Stephen Curry to injury in his fourth game of the new season, the dynasty was either declared dead or put on hold for a year.
Curry missed an excruciating 58 games with a broken hand, but he was finally back on the court to provide some kind of reprieve for suffering Warriors fans who had to watch Draymond Green, Eric Paschall and a collection of 10-day contracts take the court every night in their new arena.
Of course, now the NBA is on hiatus, and Warriors fans don’t even have a healthy Curry going rogue to look forward to. The Dubs had put together a more encouraging 3-3 stretch leading into the layover, and giving Curry time to learn to play with Andrew Wiggins would’ve been helpful. For now, Golden State will just have to hope all this potential individual practice time allows Curry the opportunity to shake off any potential rust ahead of time.
