1. Mekhi Becton

The best NFL draft picks occur when value and positional need meet. That’s exactly what will happen for the Cardinals at No. 8 if Becton is still on the board.

Arizona is still in a position where they need to add more star talent to their roster. Becton isn’t the safest prospect that will go in Round 1, but he does have an exceptional upside.

The most obvious thing that jumps out to scouts about Becton is his sheer size. Six-foot-seven tackles who weigh 364 pounds aren’t commonplace in the NFL. Players of that size who can flirt with sub 5.0 times in the 40-yard-dash are almost unheard of.

Those physical gifts give Becton a chance to develop into an All-Pro at either tackle spot. He’ll need some time to adjust to the rigors of playing against NFL pass rushers, but the Cardinals can afford to live through some early bumps and bruises.

If Becton is on the board at No. 8 the Cardinals need to be the team to roll the dice on his considerable physical gifts. At worst, he develops into a road grader at right tackle. At best, he blossoms into an elite left tackle that protects Murray for the next decade.
