The most adorable college mascots want to wish you a very happy National Puppy Day.

Did you know today, March 23 is National Puppy Day?

Yes, it’s true. But I was already operating under the assumption that everyday was National Puppy Day, but I digress, today will make for a great day to celebrate our little furry friends.

College football and basketball wouldn’t be the same without the help of our canine crew. Just think about Uga at Georgia, Bully at Mississippi State or Handsome Dan at Yale and how they are revered on campus and by fans of those schools.

College sports needs these pups to deliver smiles and happy emotions at times when the scores don’t always translate.

So in honor of their holiday, I’ve put together a nice little photo album of the best dogs from college sports.

Enjoy!

UGA is the king of the dog mascots. Just look at those wrinkles. Makes you want to squish his cheeks and give him some good lovin’.

The SEC has cornered the market on bulldog mascots, with Mississippi State having Bully who is a flat-out stud.

Tennessee is known as the Volunteers but their mascot is Smokey the dog. When he’s on the sidelines of games late in November, the dog will often have a blanket draped around its body to keep warm. It’s really sweet.

More SEC dogs. Just like Tennessee, Texas A&M uses a dog for their mascot despite their nickname not having anything to do with pups. The Texas A&M Aggies do have the most regal mascot with Reveille. She’s literally treated like royalty on campus, and deservedly so.

Bulldogs don’t have a total monopoly on dog mascots in college sports. Meet Dubs, the mascot for the University of Washington. Just like Elsa from Frozen, the cold never bothered him anyway.

The Huskies of Northern Illinois have a special place in my heart. Former mascot Diesel retired a few years ago, which was sad because he had a special talent for giving out high fives at games.

Have you ever seen anything as precious?! No, you have not.

Having good boys and girls serve as our furry mascot friends aren’t just limited to college sports. Australian Football Leagues have bulldogs down under too. This is truly a global appreciation of dogs and you just love to see it.

I mean, would you just look at that face? Look at it!

Happy National Puppy Day! Dog Rates better give all these pups 13/10, at least!
