2020 NFL Draft: 5 players Bills could take in Round 1
4. C.J. Henderson
Based on talent alone, this is the range in the draft where Henderson should be selected. However, he could end up going much higher due to the lack of quality cornerbacks available in this year’s class.
If he does slip all the way down to 22, don’t expect the Bills to wait very long to announce their pick. He’s the sort of competitive corner that McDermott likes to install on the boundary of his defense. He may never develop into a star, but he will be better than Norman early in the 2020 regular season.
The Bills don’t need their No. 2 corner to be an All-Pro, but the presence of Tre’Davious White on the other side of the field means they are going to see a lot of action. Henderson has the confidence to handle being burned on occasion. More importantly, he’s got the athleticism required to make plays when the ball is headed his way.
It’s imperative that Buffalo doesn’t buy into Norman’s reputation at cornerback. He used to be one of the best in the business, but he was terrible for the Redskins last year. Drafting Henderson would put him on the bench where he belongs at this stage of his career.
