2020 NFL Draft: 5 players Titans could take in Round 1

If the Titans want to return to the AFC Championship game they need to execute a perfect NFL Draft. Here are five guys they might take in Round 1.

No one can accuse the Titans front office of being cheap this offseason. They spent a small fortune to bring both Ryan Tannehill and Derrick Henry back into the fold. That will require Tennessee’s front office to add serious talent in the draft if they want to actually improve their team.

The Titans have two major needs they should consider addressing with the No. 29 overall selection. Finding a replacement at right tackle for Jack Conklin would represent excellent value for the franchise. Unfortunately, the top tackles will be off the board at that late juncture of the first round.

That could cause the Titans to look for another edge rusher. The team brought in Vic Beasley during free agency, but his inconsistent play is the reason why the Falcons let him walk. Coaches in Tennessee can’t rely on him to be a double-digit sack artist in 2020. That help could come in the form of another defensive end or a tackle capable of creating pressure up the middle.

The Titans need to allow the board to come to them, but look for them to select one of the following five players late in Round 1.

5. Josh Jones. Houston offensive tackle

Jones played left tackle during his collegiate days at Houston but there’s no reason to think he’s incapable of making the switch to the right side. At the very least, he could serve as a valuable swing tackle for the Titans in the event that Dennis Kelly emerges as the starter on the right side.

The reason he’ll still be available late in Round 1 is that he’s still very raw as a prospect. He’s not a guy you want to throw right into the fire when Week 1 rolls around. Even so, he’s got a high ceiling at a position fo extreme value around the NFL. At the very least, Jones should be a player that Tennessee scouts heavily in the coming weeks.
