The newest spinoff in The Walking Dead family is World Beyond. So when can fans expect to see the new series?

While the walker war wages on in The Walking Dead universe, the real world has dealt with its own pandemic in the form of the novel coronavirus. Because of that, production on nearly every major TV show and movie out there has been put on hold for an indefinite amount of time.

Luckily for some TV shows, the first round of episodes have already been filmed (or have already aired on television). And the same has gone for The Walking Dead spinoff World Beyond. Early screeners have already been made available to reviewers. But just because the episodes are ready for early viewing, it doesn’t 100 percent mean that the episodes are ready to be released. Take Supernatural for example. The showrunner said new episodes have already been filmed, but with post-production crews at a standstill, there’s not been much to do but wait.

So, what does this mean for The Walking Dead: World Beyond?

When does World Beyond start?

As of now, AMC has no new official release date for The Walking Dead: World Beyond. In a statement to the press, AMC confirmed that “the launch of The Walking Dead: World Beyond will be shifting.” With that, any early reviews for the show will also be held until further notice. Previously, the show was set to air April 12.

All the while, The Walking Dead has been in full swing. Season 10 is currently on going, and has had many major surprises throughout the season so far, including a recent episode. (We won’t spoil it for anyone who’s not caught up.)

Despite that, it doesn’t look like The Walking Dead fans will have to be completely caught up on the series to follow World Beyond. This spinoff is almost like the CW’s answer to the franchise, following a group of young people who decide to break from their everyday lives and go out into the world. Little do they know, killing walkers isn’t as easy as Rick and Michonne make it look.

Here’s how AMC officially describes the series:

"The Walking Dead: World Beyond expands the universe of The Walking Dead, delving into a new mythology and story that follows the first generation raised in a surviving civilization of the post-apocalyptic world. Two sisters along with two friends leave a place of safety and comfort to brave dangers, known and unknown, living and undead on an important quest. Pursued by those who wish to protect them and those who wish to harm them, a tale of growing up and transformation unfurls across dangerous terrain, challenging everything they know about the world, themselves and each other. Some will become heroes. Some will become villains. But all of them will find the truths they seek."
