2020 NFL mock draft: Jordan Love heads to Patriots
By Brad Weiss
The San Francisco 49ers were the best team in the NFC all season long, and that culminated in them making it all the way to the Super Bowl. While they seemed to have the game in their grasps, they could not hold Patrick Mahomes down for four quarters, and he was able to come from behind and beat them.
Still, this is a team to keep an eye on this season, and they have already done a nice job bolstering their offense by adding Jerry Jeudy with their first of two first round picks in this mock. Later on, here at No. 31, they bolster their secondary, adding a shutdown cornerback in Trevon Diggs from Alabama.
The brother of Minnesota Vikings star Stefon Diggs, Trevon is going to be an instant impact player on this defense, and will have the luxury of learning under a legend in Richard Sherman. The 49ers have the talent on both sides of the ball to get back to the Super Bowl this season, and they can add two solid talents in the first round this April.
The Kansas City Chiefs have the luxury of having the best quarterback in the NFL on their team, as Patrick Mahomes continues to re-write the record books early in his career. Through his first two full seasons as a starter, and three total on the Chiefs, he has already won the NFL Most Valuable Player Award, as well as leading his team to a Super Bowl championship.
For Chiefs fans, the hope has to be that he is just getting started, and with the No. 32 overall selection this April, they get him another weapon on offense. D’Andre Swift will likely be the only running back taken in the first round in this draft, and on the Chiefs, he would be in for a tremendous rookie season.
The Chiefs have all the weapons they need on offense to make another run towards the Super Bowl, though they will eventually have to pay Mahomes monster money. They have a window right now to put back-to-back championships together, and are the clear favorite in the AFC heading into the draft.
