2. John Salley

John Salley was a prominent member of the “Bad Boys” Detroit Pistons that won back-to-back titles in 1989 and 1990. After a retirement hiatus, he latched on with the 2000 Shaq-Kobe Los Angeles Lakers to get a ring in the final season of his career.

Salley started the 1995-96 season with the Toronto Raptors, playing just 25 games before being waived in February. The Bulls picked him up, originally on a 10-day contract, and he played 17 regular season games followed by 16 playoff games in a very small role.

Salley’s championship experience was surely more valuable in the Bulls locker room than anything he could have done on the floor. He was not asked to do much beyond use his fouls liberally (7.2 per 36 minutes during the regular season; 10.6 during the 1996 playoffs) and grab an occasional rebound.

But Salley got the third of his four rings in the first year of the second three-peat in Chicago. Not bad for 276 combined minutes of work.
