TIER 1 WIDE RECEIVERS

1. Michael Thomas, New Orleans Saints

  • 2019 rank – No. 1
  • 2019 fantasy statistics – 374.6 fantasy points, 23.4 points per game

Comment – With Drew Brees returning as the Saints quarterback, Thomas should easily match or exceed his 2019 stats.

2. Chris Godwin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

  • 2019 rank – No. 2
  • 2019 fantasy statistics – 276.1 points , 19.7 points per game

Comments – Quarterback Tom Brady will find Godwin and generate some big numbers in the revamped Bucs’ passing game.

3. Julio Jones, Atlanta Falcons

  • 2019 rank – No. 3
  • 2019 fantasy statistics – 274.1 points, 18.3 points per game

Comments – Julio Jones is probably the most reliable TIer 1 wide receiver in the NFL over the past five years.  His career averages are 88.5 receptions and 1,346 yards per season.

4. DeAndre Hopkins, Arizona Cardinals

  • 2019 rank – No. 5
  • 2019 fantasy statistics – 268.54 points, 17.9 points per game

Comments – What could be better than catching passes thrown by Deshaun Watson?  Catching passes thrown by Kyler Murray.  Hopkins was ready for a change of scenery and Arizona head coach Kliff Kingsbury has an offense better suited for the former Texans wide receiver.

5. Cooper Kupp, Los Angeles Rams

  • 2019 rank – No. 4
  • 2019 fantasy statistics – 270.5 points, 16.9 points per game

Comments – Only Detroit’s Kenny Golladay caught more touchdown passes (11) than the Rams’ Cooper Kupp (10).  Kupp finished the 2019 seasons with 94 receptions for 1,161 yards.

6. Kenny Golladay, Detroit LIons

  • 2019 rank – No.  9
  • 2019 fantasy statistics – 248.0 points, 15.5 points per game

Comments – Imagine if Golladay and LIons quarterback Matthew Stafford play the entire 2020 season together.  Golladay would probably exceed the 65 catches for 1,190 yards he had in 2019.

7. Allen Robinson II, Chicago Bears

  • 2019 rank – No. 8
  • 2019 fantasy statistics – 254.9 points, `5.9 points per game

Comments – The battle for starting quarterback only enhances Robinson’s value.  Both Mitch Trubisky and Nick Foles will need a steady, reliable No. 1 pass receiver.

8. Keenan Allen, Los Angeles Chargers

  • 2019  rank – No. 6
  • 2019 fantasy statistics – 261.5 points, 16.3 points per game

Comments – For now it looks like Tyrod Taylor is the Chargers’ starting quarterback.  Taylor was a starter in Buffalo, but was No. 2 behind Philip Rivers until Rivers signed with the Colts this year.  THe offense will be different under Taylor’s leadeership and that could indicate a downturn in Allen’s 2020 stats.

9. Amari Cooper, Dallas Cowboys

  • 2019 rank – No. 10
  • 2019 fantasy statistics – 246.5 points, 15.4 points per game

Comments – With Cooper under contract as a Cowboy, he is primed to have a better 2020 than 2019.  The resolution of quarterback Dak Prescott‘s contract situation would further boost Cooper’s ability to have a great season.

10. Mike Evans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

  • 2019 rank – No. 15
  • 2019 fantsy statistics – 232.7 points, 17.9 points per game

Comments – A healthy Evans could led to big stats for him and slot receiver Chris Godwin.  If he can avoid injury this year and Tom Brady plays like Tom Brady, Evans could add 50 fantasy football points and score approximately 283 points in 2020.

11. Tyler Lockett, Seattle Seahawks

  • 2019 rank – No. 13
  • 2019 fantasy statistics – 235.2 points, 14.7 points per gamel=

Comments – While other teams are adapting to new quarterback and other teams are flat out looking for one,  Tyler Lockett catches passes from the second best quarterback, Russell Wilson, in the league.  This is the year for Lockett to move from a high Tier 2 wide receiver to Tier 1.

12. Julian Edelman, New England Patriots

  • 2019 rank – No. 7
  • 2019 fantasy statistics – 256.3 points, `16.0 points per game

Comments – Regardless of who the new quarterback is in New England, his favorite target will be Edelman.  He should expect to have 100 receptions this year.
