The final member of Kansas basketball’s all-time starting lineup has to be Wilt Chamberlain. When one of the greatest basketball players to ever live goes to your school it is pretty much a guarantee he is the star in the all-time lineup.

Chamberlain burst on the scene as a sophomore, scoring 52 points and grabbing 31 rebounds in his first game, shattering Kansas’ school records in both categories. It became apparent quickly Chamberlain was a remarkable talent who couldn’t be contained by college players.

Chamberlain led Kansas to the National Championship Game in 1957 when North Carolina did whatever they could to try and slow him down. The Tar Heels spent most of the night triple-teaming Chamberlain who still managed to put up 23 points and 14 rebounds in a close loss.

Chamberlain was named the Final Four’s Most Outstanding Player in defeat, a sign of how dominant he was and how much he impacted the game. After dominating college basketball again as a junior, Chamberlain opted to go pro.

Chamberlain’s numbers at Kansas were absolutely ridiculous. He averaged 29.9 points per game and 18.3 rebounds per game in his two seasons on the varsity team, which was a sign of things to come in Chamberlain’s remarkable NBA career. The Jayhawks retired Chamberlain’s number in 1998 and there is no doubt he would be the go-to-guy on this loaded starting five.
