Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Many have the Buccaneers penciled in to compete in the NFC in 2020 following their signing of Tom Brady.

With an excellent receiving corps and an improving defense, finding a way to solidify the protection around their 42-year-old quarterback would seem to be the priority in Tampa.

Yet it was the Patriots defense that kept New England in the hunt in 2019 as Brady struggled and a move for Ngakoue could help the Buccaneers defense carry the team if the six-time Super Bowl champion fails to deliver for Tampa Bay.

The Buccaneers hold the 14th-overall pick in this year’s draft. No player they select at that spot is likely to have the same immediate impact as Ngakoue.

Tampa Bay leads the league in available cap space with over $60m at its disposal and already has a formidable pass rush duo after franchise Shaquil Barrett following his 19.5-sack season and re-signing veteran Jason Pierre-Paul, who continues to play at a high level with 8.5 sacks in 2019.

Adding Ngakoue in the mix would give the Buccaneers, who saw linebacker Devin White enjoy an encouraging rookie season, one of the most formidable front sevens in NFL. For their hopes of winning in 2020, Ngakoue would be a more valuable acquisition than Brady.
