Kansas City Chiefs full 2020 NFL mock draft

Getting Patrick Mahomes a new toy to play with should be a priority for every draft the Kansas City Chiefs have moving forward, even if it’s their final selection of the weekend. With Tyreek Hill, Sammy Watkins, Mecole Hardman, Demarcus Robinson and Byron Pringle already locked in on the depth chart, Boise State’s John Hightower would have the chance to enter a low-pressure situation.
Hightower, a 6-foot-1 wideout, recorded 943 receiving yards and eight touchdowns in 2019. He gets going quickly and can stop at nearly the same rate, which could pose a threat to opposing corners. When taking into account how much attention the rest of the receivers on the team would demand, it’s easy to see Hightower eventually carving out a role in Andy Reid’s offense.
There are plenty of things Hightower can work on (strength, footwork, route running, ball tracking, etc.) but he already has a calling card. We’ve seen what Reid can do with young, speedy rookie receivers that need some time to mature. Hill in 2016 and Hardman last season are both prime examples.
Robinson is on a one-year deal. Watkins’ future with the Chiefs is a gray area. Consider Hightower an insurance policy and a new member of the Legion of Zoom.
