2. Jameis Winston, QB

Perfect Fit: Pittsburgh Steelers

It is amazing to think that a quarterback who led the league in passing at age 25 can’t find a job, but Jameis Winston has been left standing in the game of NFL musical chairs. Winston has himself to blame for this after leading the league with 30 interceptions, a display of ball control that is so poor that he will need to sign as a backup somewhere to rebuild his value.

The ideal place for Winston to land would be in Pittsburgh, which still has Ben Roethlisberger but could be in the market for a long-term answer after he retires. Winston could sit behind Roethlisberger for another year or two before looking to have a mid-career renaissance with the Steelers.

1. Jadeveon Clowney, EDGE

Perfect Fit: Seattle Seahawks

There may not be a player who is more disappointed in free agency than Jadeveon Clowney, who was hoping to get a deal paying him $20 million per year. Clowney’s injury history and inconsistent production have forced him to lower his asking price, but the right team can get a valuable piece for their defense here.

The smartest play for Clowney is to go back to Seattle, which has remained interested in him but couldn’t afford to pay Clowney top dollar. Clowney showed some game-wrecking potential in Seattle last year and could thrive in their system, which should be a consideration for him when offseason programs could be disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic.
