Watch Home Before Dark series premiere: Stream Apple TV+

Home Before Dark premieres on Apple TV+ on April 3. Here’s how you can watch it online when it airs.

Created by Dana Fox and Dara Resnik for Apple’s streaming service, Home Before Dark follows the story of a young girl named Hilde Lisko (Brooklynn Prince) and her pursuit to become a journalist in her small town. Her love of journalism gets her involved in an old cold case that everyone has been trying to forget about.

This 10-episode season stars Jim Sturgess as Matthew Lisko, Abby Miller as Bridget Jenson, and Louis Herthum as Frank Briggs Jr.

The Stranger Things style of television is clearly a heavy influence here, with children riding around town on their bicycles and getting into trouble that is clearly ahead of their age range. While the show has gotten good reviews to start, you’ll have to watch for yourself when it comes out on April 3.

The official description by Apply TV reads:

"A mystery inspired by the reporting of a real 9-year-old journalist. When a young girl and her family move back to the small town her father left behind, her pursuit of the truth leads to the unearthing of a long-buried cold case."

Home Before Dark is based on the true story of Hilde Lysiak, a young investigative reporter who reported on a murder that occurred down the street from her. She also went on to went the Junior Zenger Award for Press Freedom in 2019. Clearly, Lysiak has a great story to tell. Although the show has blended real life with fiction in Home Before Dark, it’ll still have aspects of Lysiak’s real-life investigative work.

The show has already been renewed for a second season ahead of its premiere, so hopefully that means good things for the first season.
