Mother of God: Donald Trump, Vince McMahon and Dana White are having a phone call
President Donald Trump is hosting a phone call with the commissioners of major U.S. sports leagues today, including Vince McMahon and Dana White.
Story update: According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, President Trump believes the NFL season should start on time in September. He also said he hopes to have fans back in stadiums and arenas by August and September, though it’s unclear if medical professionals believe that to be realistic.
President Trump is about to host what I can only imagine is going to be an absolutely wild phone call. The economic crunch of social distancing and shelter in place orders due to COVID-19 are impacting every aspect of our society, including professional sports leagues. As the leaders of the various leagues try to make informed decisions about how to proceed in the coming months, it makes sense that those leaders would have a call with President Trump in order to get accurate information to inform their decision-making.
That call is going to happen today, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The call will involve all the major pro sports commissioners, as well as Vince McMahon, who owns the XFL and, of course, the WWE.
Let’s throw politics out the window here for a minute and just focus on personality. Can you imagine being on a phone call with Trump, Dana White and Vince McMahon? I’d gladly pay the cost of a UFC pay-per-view and a year-long subscription to WWE Network to listen on on that call. I’m not sure any of the other commissioners stand a chance at getting a word in.
Seriously, what could go wrong?
Oh. Yeah.
Personally, I am hoping Trump and McMahon can organize some kind of commissioner battle-royal for tonight’s WrestleMania.
While we wait for the details, please enjoy this video of Trump shaving Vince McMahon’s head.
Stay tuned for updates on what comes out of this call.
