Odell Beckham, Jr. (aka “OBJ”) should be the first “flex” player selected in the 2020 fantasy football draft based on the rank ordering of running backs, wide receivers and tight ends.

A “flex” player is often someone who slips out of the first four rounds of the draft without being selected by a fantasy team.  Since previous articles have used a tier system of 12 players each, OBJ ranks No. 49 among pass receivers AND rushers.

Your typical DFS flex player is an excellent athlete who has been unable to contribute consistently on a weekly basis during the regular season.  Half a dozen of the 12 players listed in the tier 1 flex list missed part of the 2019 season due to injury.

When you select a flex player for your roster, pick someone who has a big upside.  San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel is a good example. As the 2019 season progressed, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan implemented more plays for  Samuel to take advantage of his speed  and ability to run after the catch. It resulted in the rookie scoring six touchdowns last season.  Now Samuel looks like a solid lock as a “WR2” on someone’s 2020 fantasy team.

The assessments of where flex players  rank entering the 2020 season is based on the recent free agent activity and off-season moves by teams and players.
