A detailed description of what could be Venom 2’s first trailer has leaked online, and it’s got plenty to tell about Venom’s newest foe, Carnage.

The rest of the 2020 theatrical release schedule is a bit messed up right now, but one thing that’s gone unchanged amid all this (so far) is Venom 2. The Sony movie is still scheduled to come out October of this year, despite other movies being shuffled around to accommodate delays due to the current pandemic.

That being said, with the movie but a few months away, fans are due for a trailer. The first Venom movie, which came out Oct. 5, 2018, had its first trailer released April 23, 2018. Going on that track, a Venom 2 trailer could be coming soon — so long as any delays don’t impact that.

Over on Reddit, there’s a new leaked description on r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers of what could be the first trailer for Venom 2. The first (now removed) description was originally posted in Russian, but the new description has been translated into English.

According to this leak, the trailer will be quite quick, though it’ll have a big emphasis on Cletus Kasady/Carnage. The opening scene supposedly starts with children on Halloween night who arrive at a house. Once the door opens, Kasady is wearing a mask and says something along the lines of “trick or treat” and then sinisterly reveals to the children his face, which is half merged with Carnage.

The description also says the trailer includes a car chase — one that could be from the leaked set photos of filming from earlier this year. And apparently there’s more evidence of Kasady being ruthless to children as Eddie Brock reads about an orphanage that burned down — more than likely being Kasady’s work. Overall, it doesn’t seem like there’s a ton of Carnage in the first trailer — more so focusing on Kasady, though it sounds like there will be some sort of glimpse of him by the end of the trailer.

If that’s true, it’d certainly be exciting to finally see what a live-action version of Carnage looks like. And hopefully the battle between Venom and Carnage will be much more intense than the final showdown of the previous film.  Of course, until the true trailer does come out, these are still just rumors. But the description is plausible enough as is — especially given the car chase scene, which many were expecting to see at some point in the film anyway.

The only other problem, then, is whether or not the pandemic will affect when Venom 2 arrives. Already, Sony’s Morbius has been pushed from July of this year to March of next year. It’s unknown whether Morbius would have had a direct connection to Venom 2 or not (since Mortbius was technically scheduled to come out first), but Sony’s likely tinkering all that out now. At the end of the day, they have a cinematic universe to build. And we all know from Marvel Studios that it takes a lot of care and attention to make sure these movies are interconnected perfectly.
