Okay, so this might be cheating to some degree as Greivis Vasquez manned the point guard spot for Maryland in his four seasons with the program. However, if we’re building the all-time starting five, the 6-foot-6 guard has more than enough size to move to shooting guard, an area where he undoubtedly would’ve thrived considering what a lethal threat he was from beyond the 3-point arc.

Vasquez was only a modest performer as a freshman for the Terrapins, despite playing 28.8 minutes per game. He was solid, to be sure, as the guard averaged 9.8 points, 4.6 assists, 3.3. rebounds and 1.1. steals per game while shooting 44.4 percent from the floor. It’s just that those numbers pale in comparison to what he did over his final three seasons.

Over his sophomore, junior and senior seasons, Vasquez averaged 18 points, six assists, 5.2 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game while shooting a solid 42.1 percent from the floor and 33.1 percent from long range. For his phenomenal senior campaign, Vasquez also earned ACC Player of the Year honors while being named an All-American as well.

For the consistent and prolific work he put in during his four years in College Park, Vasquez climbed to No. 2 on the career scoring list for Maryland basketball while also sitting at No. 2 in career assists as well. He was a do-it-all presence for the Terps and, in the simplest terms, he did it all at the highest level.
