The Chiefs definitely have the talent required to repeat as Super Bowl Champions but it will require another special season from Patrick Mahomes.

Winning a Super Bowl title is challenging. Repeating as the best team on the planet is nearly impossible. That’s the daunting task facing the Chiefs as they head into the 2020 regular season.

That doesn’t mean it’s an impossible challenge for Andy Reid and his coaching staff. Kansas City returns an enormous amount of talent on their roster this season. If this group stays healthy, there’s no reason they shouldn’t be right in the mix for another Super Bowl win.

The Chiefs will still need their fair share of breaks to win another Lombardi Trophy. Keeping Patrick Mahomes healthy is imperative. He took too many hits last season. Key injuries to any of the other All-Pros on the roster could also torpedo the team’s hopes of repeating.

Expect some surprises along the way for the Chiefs this year. Keep a particularly close eye on the following five bold predictions.

5. Jordan Ta’amu will beat out Chad Henne as Chiefs backup QB

Henne is a steady backup that a lot of teams around the NFL would love to have on their sideline. Reid isn’t the sort of coach to stick with the safe quarterback though. That’s why Ta’amu is going to beat him out for the backup job by season’s end.

The former Texas A&M star has a big edge over Henne in terms of mobility. That makes him more similar to Mahomes. Reid and his offensive staff would prefer to employ a backup that wouldn’t require a complete offensive change if they needed to start a game or two. Ta’amu is going to move up the depth chart because of his athleticism and schematic fit.
