The Detroit Lions were recently given a one-star review by Damon Harrison, which is probably what you’ll give my latest seven-round Lions mock draft.

The 2020 NFL Draft starts with the Detroit Lions.

Even though they hold the third overall pick, many expect the full chaos of the NFL’s annual selection meeting to begin with the Lions’ pick. Could they trade down with a quarterback-needy team? Will they pull a huge surprise and take a quarterback themselves?

Let’s find out with my impossibly-accurate seven-round Lions mock draft:

1st round

After a potential trade down, this pick likely comes down to three players: Brown, Ohio State’s Jeffrey Okudah and Florida’s CJ Henderson. In the end, Matt Patricia can’t pass up the opportunity to add a monster on the interior in Auburn’s Derrick Brown.

Brown was one of the most dominant defensive linemen in college football and would immediately step into a crucial, disruptive role up front on what has become a revolving door for the Lions on defense.

Damon Harrison’s, uh, less than stellar review of his time in Detroit leaves fans in desperate need for a player who will make a huge impact from day one. I think the Lions are more likely to build their defensive front before the secondary, which tips the scales in Brown’s favor.
