5. Wide Receiver

The Packers have Davante Adams as their No. 1 wide receiver. Despite having Adams, the team can’t afford to stop looking for upgrades to complement him. The departure of Geronimo Allison, who was efficient last season, leaves a hole for the offense to fill. Allen Lazard showed signs of life from time-to-time, and the combination of Equanimeous St. Brown and Marquez Valdes-Scantling remains.

The offense desperately lacks a No. 2 receiver. A better receiver could make all the difference for what the Packers need. In early April, the Packers signed unrestricted free agent Devin Funchess. The move should give Aaron Rodgers an additional target, and this is a chance for Funchess to resurrect his career.

However, in a way, the upcoming NFL Draft sets up perfectly for the reigning NFC North champions. Whatever happens in the seven-round draft, general manager Brian Gutekunst should consider drafting a wide receiver — not just a player Rodgers can throw the ball to, but a playmaking wide receiver.

Whether he uses one of his first three-round draft picks will be something to watch. If the Packers can land themselves a receiver who can gain yards or make catches, it would give head coach Matt LaFleur another weapon for his prized quarterback.
