Georgia quarterback Jake Fromm has been the subject of much draft speculation for years, it seems. Now that his time is near, what teams make the most sense?

Georgia quarterback Jake Fromm is unlikely to be prepared to lead an NFL franchise in the 2020 season. However, the former Bulldog does have the tools and skills necessary to develop in to an excellent quarterback at the NFL level. Teams must give him the time and opportunity for that development to occur.

So what teams make the most sense for the young quarterback?

5. San Francisco 49ers

The defending NFC Champion San Francisco 49ers face an uncertain future at the backup quarterback position, and could ultimately use competition and/or replacement for starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. Both backup quarterbacks are set to be free agents next year (CJ Beathard and Nick Mullens), and neither will ever challenge the incumbent for starting time. The time is now for San Francisco to look for an alternative.

After their Super Bowl LIV loss and fourth quarter collapse, many argued that it was Garoppolo who lost the team the game. Certainly, no mistake was bigger for the 49ers than his missing a wide open Emmanual Sanders for a touchdown that would have tied the game late.

The 49ers would be remiss not to start grooming a viable backup quarterback who can challenge Garoppolo, and using a 3rd round pick on Jake Fromm would be a viable candidate.
