3. Green Bay Packers

Under contract through 2023, Aaron Rodgers isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. The Packers may draft his successor this year though, if there’s an opportunity. But the situation behind Rodgers as it is right now is dismal, with Tim Boyle and practice squad guy Manny Wilkins, and even if a quarterback is drafted a veteran addition shouldn’t be ruled out.

There shouldn’t necessarily be great concern about his durability, but Rodgers will turn 37 in December and not that long ago we got a glimpse of Packers’ life without him. He basically missed 10 games in 2017, after a hit from Vikings’ linebacker Anthony Barr early in Week 6, with a one-game return in Week 15 when Green Bay still had some playoff hopes. The Packers were 4-1 entering that game against Minnesota, and wound up finishing 7-9 (3-6 in Brett Hundley’s starts).

With a short window to win while Rodgers is still the quarterback, the Packers can’t allow any season to go up in proverbial smoke if he’s sidelined for several games. Flacco certainly isn’t as exciting as an incoming highly drafted rookie might be, but he can hold down the fort in Green Bay if he had to start some games.
