4. Jamel Dean, cornerback

Jamel Dean is not a household name amongst NFL fans. but that truly may change in 2020. The Auburn product was selected in the third round of the NFL Draft last season and had a solid rookie showing. He made his NFL debut in Week 9 in which he gave up three touchdowns against the Seahawks, but he had some positives too.

In Week 10, Dean tallied his first career interception of Cardinal’s quarterback Kyler Murray. He finished his rookie season with 21 tackles, 17 pass deflections, two interceptions, and a forced fumble. For limited defensive action, those are some pretty good numbers to build off of. His play got better from week to week, especially his recognition and ball-hawk skills, and that will be huge for him to carry those into a new season.

Dean has 4.30 40-yard dash speed and his length is a huge plus. With Vernon Hargreaves out of the picture now, he should get more of a chance to show he can be utilized more and more defensively. If he is able to play more on defense, that could also lead to a boost in confidence that translates to the special teams units. Winning football teams have to make plays on special teams, and that could be a second way in which Dean breaks out in 2020.
