New Orleans Saints 2020 mock draft: Full 7 rounds
By Conor Dorney
4th round
Isaiah Simmons may get most of the headlines for his athleticism at linebacker but Colorado’s Davion Taylor isn’t far behind.
With a 4.49 40-yard dash, 35.0-inch vertical jump and 6.96 3-cone time, it’s clear why teams are excited about Taylor’s potential despite not having much experience playing football in general.
Taylor will need a ton of coaching to help him digest opposing offenses but he’s a fearless downhill player who flashes as a tackler in space and in coverage. The ability to cover match against tight ends has been crucial to success on defense in the NFL, and Taylor is the unique chess piece capable of providing that.
There’s a lot of projection with Taylor (and he could go one round earlier than this), but the Saints would love to bring him into the fold on defense and provide valuable special teams contributions in the meantime.
