Every team’s best-case scenario in the 2020 NFL Draft
Arizona Cardinals: Protect Kyler Murray
Murray may want another wide receiver to throw to, but he needs a tackle to keep him safe. The Cardinals need to keep it simple at No. 8 and take the best offensive tackle on the board. The coaching staff should be thrilled if Tristan Wirfs slides to them at that spot.
Los Angeles Rams: Take their medicine
The Rams don’t have a first-round pick at the moment and they should keep it that way. They’ve given away far too many assets in misguided attempts to win now. It’s time for the front office to start to take some of that medicine. In other words, Los Angeles should wait until the end of Round 2 to make their first selection in this year’s draft.
San Francisco 49ers: Help Jimmy Garoppolo
Conventional wisdom has the 49ers looking to add a top wide receiver talent with the No. 13 pick. If Lamb or Jeudy drops to that spot they should absolutely snap them up. If not, future proofing the roster against Joe Staley’s impending retirement would also be smart. If Tristan Wirfs or Jedrick Wills drops to No. 13 they’d represent great value as well. Ultimately, Lamb or Jeudy is still the best possible outcome.
Seattle Seahawks: Sign Jadevon Clowney
The Seahawks can’t find an edge rusher capable of really moving the needle at No. 27. Clowney is the man they need to make their defense a quality unit in 2020. Finding a way to free up cash to sign him is the best thing Seattle can do with their first-round pick.
