50. Ohio State. Jeffrey Okudah. 3. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. CB

Ohio State should have back-to-back prospects taken early in this year’s draft, with the Lions nabbing the top cornerback on the board. Detroit currently has Desmond Trufant and Justin Coleman atop the depth chart, but Okudah could leap-frog them both with a solid training camp.

At OSU, Okudah started all 2019 games and earned First-Team AP All-American honors. He led the team with three interceptions and nine pass breakups while also causing two forced fumbles. Okudah has all the makings of a great NFL star, with strong moral character, discipline and the football skills to match. His 6-foot-1 size and length paired with his foot speed and closing burst make him an elite player at this stage of his career.

The burst will help Okudah to minimize yards, or may even help him catch up before a reception is ever made to lock things down. It’s clear that he could develop into one of the league’s top shutdown corners very quickly, and Lions fans would surely love to see that.

Detroit is, of course, undergoing a bit of a rebuild as they seem to be every year, and are morphing into Patriots North under head coach Matt Patricia. Their defense should be much-improved with New England additions like Duron Harmon, Danny Shelton and Jamie Collins — who should all be starters. Okudah would be able to contribute on a team looking to win the NFC North in 2020.
