50. Pick Analysis. Ohio State. 3. player. Scouting Report. CB. Jeffrey Okudah

This is where things get interesting. Look, if the Lions don’t trade down, which they would certainly be welcome to doing, they should take a signal-caller here. If they feel Justin Herbert or Tua Tagovailoa is a franchise-level quarterback, he should be the pick. Heck, they got a great look at Herbert when Matt Patricia and Co. were one of the coaching staffs at the Senior Bowl.

However, general manager Bob Quinn knows he needs to win now. Another three-win season and he’s on the unemployment line. In this vein, he’ll draft someone who can help immediately and won’t be behind Matthew Stafford for a year. Okudah is such a man, replacing Darius Slay in Detroit’s secondary.

Clemson. Isaiah Simmons. 4. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. LB. 31

The New York Giants have a choice to make. Provided they stay at No. 4 — and general manager Dave Gettleman has never traded down in his career — this pick will be either a left tackle or Isaiah Simmons. Anybody else would be a huge stunner.

While Tristan Wirfs or Jedrick Wills would be fine choices and presumably anchor the line for a decade, Simmons is a tantalizing talent. He can play linebacker or safety and even help out at slot corner in a real pinch. He’s the kind of player you build an entire unit around, and considering the lack of talent on Big Blue’s defense, Simmons is the correct pick here.
