2020 NFL mock draft: C.J. Henderson, Jordan Love to Raiders
Some Gang Green fans won’t appreciate this pick. With Mekhi Becton on the board, general manager Joe Douglas could be tempted to go with a left tackle. However, Jeudy is one of the best receivers to come out in years, and after losing Robby Anderson, the Jets are beyond desperate for Sam Darnold to have a top target.
Additionally, the pick of Lamb at No. 9 by the Jaguars could trigger a run. If New York waits for its next pick, a half-dozen receivers (or more) could be off the board. Even in a historically deep class, that’s a huge risk. New York must upgrade on the outside if it wants to compete in the AFC East, and Jeudy fits the bill.
Last week, general manager Mike Mayock went on record saying he believes the third round could yield first-round talent at wide receiver. Passing up Henry Ruggs is a difficult choice for Mayock and head coach Jon Gruden, but the defensive secondary needs ample help. Landing Henderson here would be a steal for the Raiders, and one they can’t pass up.
Henderson is arguably the best corner in the draft, but due to the deep nature of this rookie class, he falls a bit. Las Vegas has to contend with Courtland Sutton, Keenan Allen, Tyreek Hill, Sammy Watkins, Mike Williams and Mecole Hardman in its division. The Raiders have to find a shutdown corner, and they may do so with Henderson here.
