This Tuesday, the Outlaw Tour presents the DraftKings community with the first round of the Legacy Shootout!

Before I dive into my player selections for the Draftkings first round showdown contest let’s take a quick look at the golf course the field will play on Tuesday.

The Legacy Shootout will be played at the Legacy Golf Resort in Phoenix, Arizona. The golf course is a par 71 that measures 6,801 yards. This track offers four par five holes that vary in difficulty. The par five 14th hole looks to be the most difficult of the four as it measures a whopping 580 yards. The par five 18th hole will likely be the most vulnerable to lower scores as it measures only 522 yards.

It should be noted that upon review of the scorecard for this track I observed that the long par five 14th hole is indeed the most difficult hole on the entire golf course. In direct contrast to that hole, the least difficult hole on the course is the par three seventh hole that measures only 136 yards.

Here are my Draftkings player selections for the first round of the Legacy Shootout.

Dylan Wu $10,800

The 23 year old American is clearly the class of the Legacy Shootout field. Dylan Wu, the current 304th ranked golfer in the official world golf rankings, is a member of the Korn Ferry Tour. With the Korn Ferry Tour still yet to resume play due to the COVID-19 health pandemic, I assume Wu is in the field of the Legacy Shootout so that he can get in some competitive golf. That is likely not going to be good news for the rest of the golfers in the field this week.

In 2020, Wu has played six events on the Korn Ferry Tour. In those six events played, Wu has four top 11 finishes, including a fourth place result at the El Bosque Mexico Championship in March. It should also be noted that Wu has some outstanding statistics this season as well. Dylan Wu currently ranks fourth in driving accuracy (94.23%), eighth in GIR (greens in regulation-83.33%), fourth in actual scoring average (68.96), and seventh in birdie average (4.50) on the Korn Ferry Tour.

Jimmy Gunn $10,200

Gunn has played six golf tournaments on the Outlaw Tour this year. He has made the cut in all six events. Additionally, his worst finish in those six events was a 12th place result at last week’s Arrowhead Classic. He fired a final round 63 at the Ken McDonald Classic in February en route to a second place finish.

Derek Bayley $9,400

Bayley has played nine events on the Outlaw Tour this season. In those nine events played, Bayley has an overall first round scoring average of 66. He fired a first round 61 at the East Valley Championship in March. Additionally, Bayley finished fifth at last week’s Arrowhead Classic.

Ryan Porch $8,800

He has been one of the most consistent golfers on the Outlaw Tour in 2020. Porch has played seven tournaments this season. In those seven events played, Porch has five top nine finishes, including a third place finish at the Moon Valley Classic in March.

Mitchel Carlson $7,900

Carlson has only played two events on the Outlaw Tour this year. He has first round scores of 64 and 68 in the two events he has played. Carlson finished 12th at the Arrowhead Classic last week.
