The Indianapolis Colts signed Philip Rivers so they can once again become contenders in the AFC South. If they want to once again become one of the standard bearers of the AFC, they need to win these games.

For a long time, the Indianapolis Colts were a team with an impressive amount of talent that was just waiting for the year to pounce on its cap space. Their No. 1 need right now is at wide receiver, and that’s only because T.Y. Hilton has some trouble staying healthy. For your No. 1 need to come at a position where you still have Hilton, it shows how deep this team goes.

The Colts seem to have a lot of good on this roster, but may be missing some of those really great players that win championships. They had one for almost two decades in Peyton Manning. Then, they added in players like Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, Dwight Freeney, Edgerrin James and Dallas Clark, just to name a few.

Now, the Colts have players like Justin Houston, newly-acquired DeForest Buckner, Marlon Mack, Darius Leonard, Xavier Rhodes and now starting quarterback Philip Rivers. The players they have are good, but when you see the great Colts of the past, there’s just a gap between the rosters.

That doesn’t mean this Colts team isn’t a contender for the playoffs, it just means there’s still work to do. When there is work to do, teams can’t afford to lose games they are supposed to win. That’s why, when we look at the team’s “must-win” games this far out from the season starting, we have to look at the trap games where they could get caught. These five games could throw the Colts’ season off the rails completely. That’s why they must come out with the “W” in these 2020 games.
