2020 NFL Mock Draft: Tua Tagovailoa goes to the Colts
By Conor Dorney
The Vikings’ revolving door in the secondary this offseason makes cornerback a huge need. A physical, press corner, Utah’s Jaylon Johnson is the perfect fit and athletic profile for Mike Zimmer’s defensive scheme.
Pick from the alternate universe: Ross Blacklock
The Dolphins need more help on the back end of the defense even after adding Byron Jones in free agency. Safety is a pressing need, so they turn to the top safety in the class, Alabama’s Xavier McKinney, near the end of round one.
Pick from the alternate universe: Josh Jones
*projected trade w/ Seattle*
No one will be surprised if Tagavailoa goes in the first five picks of round one but if not…where does he fit? Nobody can know for sure but why not the Indianapolis Colts as they trade back into round one? Indy has Philip Rivers in the short term but no answer at the position past next season.
Colts owner Jim Irsay once nearly drafted Russell Wilson and there are shades of Wilson’s game to Tagavailoa. Indy has the ammo in the second round to get this deal done and finally stops Tua’s draft day fall.
Pick from the alternate universe: Jerry Jeudy
Pretty much any team past the 10th pick is a potential fit for Jeudy, but I also think he’s the most likely of the consensus top three to fall. Baltimore would be doing backflips to land a weapon of his caliber for Lamar Jackson at the end of round one.
Pick from the alternate universe: Kenneth Murray
