Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa will be a top-10 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Here is why the Los Angeles Chargers are the best fantasy fit for him.

There will be at least three quarterbacks taken in the top 10 of the 2020 NFL Draft. As expected, 2019 Heisman Trophy winner Joe Burrow will wind up on the Cincinnati Bengals with the No. 1 pick. While Justin Herbert and possibly Jordan Love could end up top-10 picks as well, the other sure-fire lock to be a top-10 pick is Tua Tagovailoa. Where is the best landing spot for him?

The Fantasy Footballers familiarized themselves with the top-tier prospects at each position group. Though they like a lot of the top quarterback prospects, the idea of Tagovailoa ending up on a team like the Los Angeles Chargers might end up being the best thing for him from at least a fantasy football standpoint.

The other team that is tied to Tagovailoa from a draft rumors standpoint is the Miami Dolphins, who are picking one spot ahead of the Chargers at No. 5 overall. While Miami might be a great landing spot for Tagovailoa long-term, the Chargers are more likely to compete right away than Miami. Tagovailoa will have better weapons in Los Angeles and could start sooner than in Miami.

The reason for this is the guys understand Chargers starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor for what he is. He’s good, but is more likely to lose the starting job earlier in the season than Ryan Fitzpatrick would with the Dolphins. Unlike Burrow, we can’t reasonably expect Tagovailoa to get ample playing time in September, but he’s more likely to play in October in Los Angeles than in Miami.

Add in that the Chargers are in need of some juice in the worst way possible, and they’ll be forced to play a guy like Tagovailoa sooner rather than later. Miami is rebuilding, but the Chargers are only coming off a down season. Head coach Anthony Lynn has less job security than Brian Flores because the Dolphins head coach’s tenure is more attached to the Miami rebuild than is Lynn.

Will Tagovailoa have success wherever he ends up? Possibly, but he could also bust catastrophically due to his rampant injury issues suffered in college. Though he can succeed with any team who takes him in the top 10 of the 2020 NFL Draft, he will be set up for earlier success on a team like the Chargers above anybody else. He’d be a huge get for the Bolts.
